Here on the coast of New Jersey, especially in the winter, when the wind blows out of the southwest, the bay gets rough, and the ocean waves get pushed up, with spray blowing back from their tips.

I live on a barrier island that is approximately 25 miles long - at the south end is Barnegat Inlet, at the north end is Manasquan Inlet. I recently had the opportunity to visit both in the same day. (the last two photographs are iPhone snapshots).

During a volunteer week at the non-profit Mt. Washington Observatory, I had the opportunity to view the Aurora Borealis early one morning. Timing and conditions did not allow me to set up my primary camera, so these are casual snapshots, and as a result, are somewhat grainy.

I often find myself out and about at sunrise and sunset, but frequently when I only have my iPhone with me. Recently, I have started to make an effort to get more than just "snapshots" of the sunrises and sunsets that I am lucky enough to see. This gallery will grow slowly over time - please check back!
